Today’s thought has been on a subject matter which isnt really touched on or discussed in today’s society from my experience. I am sure that I am not the only one who has these thoughts on a daily basis, I just don’t think people choose to talk about them. The thought I am referencing is having an unsure emotion about how something works, which is often the beginning of breaking the genuine thought barrier in my opinion. It seems it has become instilled into to the masses generationally currently, as being told from a young age as we all know, “Why do you ask so many dumb questions?”. For some reason this has been adopted as a mainstream thing to do, but in actuality I would beg the differ in that if the counter were employed dramatic changes could potentially ripple through society.
The truth that I feel pertaining to this particular issue, is that there are really no “dumb” questions. The truth is that our society has ingrained a need for “speed” above all in the current consensus. I’ve read and watched interviews conducted with individuals not from the US and they always talk about how busy and anxious we are as a society compared to others. With this being the common mindset of the everyday individual that has been wired to believe that because this person is asking a question in which, “Said Person”does not know. The person they believe to have the knowledge or expertise to answer the question is irritated by the request of information or knowledge to understand. Why do we feel this way when in all actuality if you explain the process from beginning to end with consideration for their understanding of the objective. They will be more adept to know the procedures, policies, steps, etc. at a higher level the next time, this is often by majority of todays standards as insufficient and inferior due to the level of speed that is beginning to be demanded. This could be argued separately as to why the majority of people in today’s world, if you were to ask them in my opinion, would state they feel defeated before they begin the majority of these situations. Due to the level of demand on the common mind now views these situations as “How long can I last”, compared to “How can I help invest”.
The overall question is that, why do we feel the need to operate this way? If you look throughout history, our current way of life didn’t kickstart until very recently in our existence as a species. For generations we operated at a much slower speed with focus being more on the understanding. During this time we also didn’t have the demographic of dependence for current pharmaceuticals to help individuals manage the daily stress of life as we know today. People weren’t seeing psychiatrists on a regular basis, at least in the US, it seems everyone has seen one at least once or knows someone who has. So who decided and why did we go from generations upon generations living by campfire and candlelight, into the LED, Bluetooth, Dating Hookup, etc. “Mainstream Society” we have became in such a short rapid pace? Could this potentially be why anxiety, depression, aggression, faith, etc. have also rapidly declined in a dramatic way as well? And who at the end of day truly benefits from the speed demand placed on today’s current market and society?
